Travelers Rest is a small town, located just below the Blue Ridge Mountains in Greenville, South Carolina. It is 112 miles from Columbia, 221 miles from Charleston and 154 miles from Atlanta. I have lived there for the past 10 years and have seen this town grow from obsoletism to a town with a reputation for adventurers looking to take on new challenges. Being so close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are a lot of avid campers and hikers in the area.
The first and best place I would recommend visiting is Sunrift Adventures – which is right near the
middle of town located at 1 Center St. The atmosphere of the store is very similar to the town itself, and there’s lots of really cool camping stuff you can buy. The staff is also very knowledgeable about the area and they are sure to give you great recommendations for new adventures!
After visiting Sunrift, you will be hungry for more, and there are some great options for dining
in Travelers Rest! On the fast food end, there is Carolina Fine Foods, which has some of the best fries
and chocolate milkshakes you can find. It also has a very hometown atmosphere, displaying local
sports schedules, and team plaques and trophies on its walls.
Just down the road, The Cafe at Williams Hardware has some great eats, boasting of delicious tomato okra soup. And for those looking to just grab a coffee, Leopard Forest is definitely the best in town. They roast their coffee in house and the store has a great atmosphere. I personally recommend the frozen leopard for those looking for a delicious, sweet, coffee mixed drink.
As you are driving between these fabulous places to eat, you will realize that Travelers Rest also has an adorable boutique store worth stopping into. All About Me is right across the street from Leopard Forest and has some great items for the ladies in the audience. They sell Vera Bradley, Brighton and various other brands of cute jewelry and bags. Definitely a place to stop into if you’re looking for a gift!
I hope these attractions get you to Travelers Rest sometime soon, and make sure to post your trip and
take a friend while you’re at it!
